Simultaneous Solution of Helical Coiled Once-Through Steam Generator with High-Speed Water Property Library

Efficient simulation of the helical coiled once-through steam generator (H-OTSG) is crucial in design and safety analysis high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR). The physical property phase transformation water brings great challenges during simulation. properties calculation routine occupies a large part computational time solution process. Thus, thermohydraulic library developed based on IAPWS-IF97 formulation this work to reduce cost. Here adopts backward equation method avoid iterations thermodynamic calculation. Moreover, two Newton-method-based simultaneous solutions are implemented as implicitly nonlinear solvers, including Jacobian-Free Newton–Krylov (JFNK) (NK) methods, due its excellent performance. These algorithms combined with simulate H-OTSG efficiently. numerical performed transient steady-state cases HTR-10 generator. Successful simulations demonstrate capability newly method.
